Solid, solid looking team.
After a very good season by the Hornets, securing a shocking FA Cup title and the 2nd place in the Championship, Fernandinho sees some cash rolling in, boosted morale, and a huge buzz around his boys. For the first time in their history, Watford are playing the Europa League and the FACS.
As the season begins, the coach takes swift action in the market - Aaron Ramsdale, Brandon Williams, Joachim Andersen, André Zambo-Anguissa and Noni Madueke arrive in Hertfordshire, providing good, reliable, long-term solutions to their positions, going straight into the starting XI. The squad is now with an average of 23 years, proving that youth is a must for the coach's plans.
With young minds to teach and tutor, and playing his very first top-flight league as a coach, Dinho, right out of the gate, delivers more astonishing results; picking up the scraps from struggling sides from the Big-6, Watford face all types of competition fearlessly, not afraid to impose their game plan & style. Very tough to beat at home (with not one loss in Vicarage Road in 38 league games), the Hornets finish 4th in the Prem, with the 3rd best defensive record. Ramsdale ends the competition with 15 clean sheets in 37 appearences, securing a Champions League spot for next season, the very first in Watford's history.
The Europa League, however, falls short. After a good group campaign, finishing second after AC Milan, the Hornets progress through, all the way to the semis, but ultimately are no match for BVB Dortmund, losing 5-2 on aggregate, with a masterclass from Erling Haaland. The experience, nontheless, is remarkable - supporters go crazy over the campaign, and the love coming from the stands is greater with each passing day. Players, staff and coach alike are praised relentlessly by the crowd, both proud and delighted with the team's project.
And as holding champions of the FA Cup, the year could not be better - another title, the second in a row. After some good (and favorable) draws, playing only Aston Villa as a Premier League opponent, the Hornets face relatively easy competition throughout the campaign, with a very special win against Luton Town to top it off - a 7x1 in favor of the yellows (a record win in the history of the derby). In the finals, against Newcastle, a 3-1 win, with a brace from Troy Deeney, in his last professional game, make Watford, again, FA Cup champions.
Players IN: Aaron Ramsdale, Brandon Williams, Noni Madueke (ENG); André Zambo-Anguissa (CAM); Adil Aouchiche (FRA); Jetro Willems (NED); and Joachim Andersen (NOR).
Players OUT: Christian Kabasele (BEL); Ben Foster, Dan Gosling, Joe Ralls (ENG); Craig Cathcart (NIR); Kiko Femenia, Marc Navarro (SPA); and Ken Sema (SWE).
- All hired players MUST have in-game face.
