Update:
First off, I won the preseason tournament.
In the Premier League, I'm currently 5th with 45 points after 23 games. My record is 13-6-4. Manchester City is leading with 49 points. Then there's Liverpool (48), Leicester City (48), and Manchester United (46). Burnley is in 6th with 36 points. Then come Spurs, Chelsea, and Arsenal. An interesting table at this stage.
Raphinha is top-scorer in the league so far with 20 goals from 20 games. The top assister is Sadio Mane from Liverpool with 12 assists. Raphinha, Bamford, and Rodrigo are tied with others for second place with 7 assists.
Some notable games in the Premier League were a 6-2 win against Liverpool at Elland Road, featuring two impressive free-kick goals from Raphinha, from break-away fouls committed by Matip in Van Dijk, but that only Van Dijk got sent off for, 2 or three goals from Bamford, a Struijk banger from miles out following a corner kick, and in which Jamie Shackleton sustained a 3-month injury, a 4-3 win against Liverpool on Boxing Day at a snowy Anfield, and wins against Chelsea and Man City.
In the EFL Cup, I overcame rivals Huddersfield at home, then Liverpool 3-2 at Anfield, then got revenge against Manchester United by winning 5-0 at Elland Road after losing to them 4-2 on opening day of the Premier League season at Old Trafford. Next I beat Burnley 3-2 at Turf Moor despite Big Wout scoring a bicycle kick. In the semifinals I faced Leicester over two legs. The first leg, at home, I lost 3-2 and Bamford got a month-long injury. In the second leg, at the King Power, I won 6-3 to turn the aggregate score to 8-6 in my favor. Rodrigo, who has been superb in the EFL Cup, scored a hat-trick in that game. He dominates the scoring chart with 10 goals from 6 games. The king of the EFL Cup. I will face Chelsea in the final at Wembley.
In the FA Cup I won 2-0 against Southampton, then gave up a 3-0 lead against Fulham at the end of the game in strange circumstances. The game at Craven Cottage finished 3-3 and the replay at Elland Road humiliated Fulham 8-0. I’m set to play Chelsea in the next round only a few days after the EFL Cup final against them.
Players:
- Raphinha is insane. I can't imagine what it would be like if he got injured. He can do everything. The one player who I almost never rotate. He's clinical, a smooth dribbler, rapid, never gets tired, is an excellent passer, scores free-kicks, and he pulls off the spectacular with ease.
- Rodrigo is quite good as well. His performances in the EFL Cup in particular have been outstanding. A key player at the club.
- Bamford gets lots of assists and is a reliable goalscorer. It seems to me that he is one of the most-liked and respected players at the club, based on what I've seen in the length of his contract and the impact my responses in post-match interviews have. The team’s talisman. When he was injured it was a miss, but even in the important second leg of the EFL Cup, the team made him proud.
- Meslier is a fantastic keeper. He's so tall and his limbs are so long that he pulls off great saves and often denies chip shots. His saves with feet trait comes in clutch. His passing is also great. A brilliant, reliable, young keeper to have. And he will keep growing.
- Kalvin Phillips is the Yorkshire Pirlo. The second key player after Raphinha. Covers so much ground. A box-to-box defensive midfielder. Can score from distance, like the goal of the season so far, a banger in the top corner, crossbar and in-and-out from 30 yards in the 8-0 victory against Fulham. I'm converting him to CM to get his shooting up because he's a fantastic passer and dangerous in the box. Also takes corner kicks.
- I was kind of sad to see Dan James go because he's rapid and runs forever. But I think it was best for him to go. Shackleton is my RWB.
- I felt bad moving on the captain Liam Cooper as well but he wasn't growing like the other center-backs and I always wanted to sign Krejci ASAP, especially after taking the reins as manager of the Czech national team.
- Llorente is a great sweeper with his long legs, good speed, good dribbling and passing, and great interceptions.
- Dallas is reliable, versatile, and runs for days.
- Jack Harrison is one of the reasons I started this career mode and he's brilliant at LWB. He's fast, has good stamina, and does just about everything I need him to in attack.
- Gelhardt is what I would expect and he's the future of the striker position. His stocky body type is interesting because it makes him strong but he still moves well.
- Summerville is a speed demon and he has the outside foot shot trait. Him and Raphinha terrorized Liverpool's high line in the 4-3 win at Anfield on Boxing Day.
- Bate is versatile and good, but not too special yet.
- Ayling is solid and reliable, and he's my captain now that Cooper is gone.
- Jack Jenkins has been the most surprising success. He's a fantastic number 6 with the ball. All over the place and connecting everything together with his great passing.
- Hjelde has been kind of disappointing. His normal 185+ body type is clunky and his power header trait hasn't come to anything yet. But I still have hope that he will amount to something.
- Amari Miller has been one of my favorite youngsters. He's fast and runs for days all over the pitch. I usually play him as RWB but he can also play RW.
- Sam Greenwood has been kind of disappointing and his power free-kick trait hasn't shown yet. But he could come good.
- Cresswell is a solid defender and one of the tallest on a mostly-short team. A great passer for a center back. Not too clunky even though he has the normal 185+ body type.
I've only played one game so far with Kamara, Krejci, Karabec, and Samek, but they were all great in the 8-0 demolition of Fulham in the FA Cup replay. Kamara is a fantastic sweeper. He's pretty fast, always in the right place at the right time, and defends all over the pitch, wherever he's needed. His dribbling and passing are great. The only problem is that he's short for a center-back and loses most aerial duels against opposition center-forwards. Krejci is a monster. He bullies strikers and wingers for fun, just like with the national team. He will be my target on corner kicks. Both of them have the leadership trait. Karabec and Samek were both great in their substitute appearances. Karabec got an assist and dictated play while Samek was all over in midfield and got a goal and an assist.
Czech Republic:
Lastly, I've only played friendlies with the Czech national team, but I've done well and I think it's a great team to manage. I beat Portugal 3-2 and Brazil 3-1, in which Krejci pocketed a lively Raphinha. I'm scouting in Czech Republic for my youth academy. I'm hoping for good potential wingbacks, as those positions are really lacking good young players. Also, there's only one Czech player with rapid pace, Jakub Pesek.
