I have no idea if that's how they play. And a lot of those choices may seem surreal OVRall wise. But, believe me... That's how they should play in order to reach their full potential. Here's why:

1. Savin the obvious choice.

2. Mellor is the best true right full back they have. A tall veteran that fits perfectly on this team, as his offensive duties are reduced in this lineup. He can overlap, but the idea is to keep him as the main right wing defender.

3. Brad Hills and Baba Fernandes make up for a good fight for the number 3 shirt. Hills come up stongger in my eyes because of his potential and his higher speed. Baba is also young, and could work as a very good backup. In this lineup, it's required from the position to be the last man of the defense. His focus is the right side, but with speed the range can be widened.

4. Here may be the first real controversy of my picks. It's kind of one of my main football believes, that you should always have a true lefty playing as a center back from the left. Especially in this lineup as he is not the last man. He actually needs to cover a lot of their left wing defensive duties because of how their left back is required to play. That's why I chose Shipley over Rich-Baghuelou, who have a very good weak foot rating, but is much more of a true last man defender than a wing defender.

5. Conneely needs to be a starter at midfield. But, he doesn't have the speed to be their box-to-box guy, so he needs to be the guardian of their own area. That also helps feeing their left back to play almost as a left midfielder.

6. Speaking of whom, Rosaire Longelo-Mbule for this position is a no brainer for me. Mellor doesn't need to overlap on the other side, because that's the miedfielder who plays o that sides responsability. As they don't have the same thing on the left side, they need that from their left back.

7. Pritchard is their overlaping midfielder on the right side. Also having CM as his PFs is very impressive. His the perfect fit for this position to work with their right winger.

8. Coyle is their box-to-box man, their midfield general. His phisicality is what allows him to do that and to free Longelo-Mbule. Very good fit.

9. Tommy Leigh have all the tools to be a good 9 and also a good false-9. That way, opens up the oportunity to play with two crossed feet wingers, going from a 2-1 ofense to a 1-2 ofense at times. Another very good fit.

10. A lefty number 10 is not for everybody. If Jack Nolan performs, this team can surprise a lot of people.

11. McConville is the perfect veteran to closeup this team. An overall good player, that will do the durty work and be the stabalizer of this ofense.

Notable subs:

Other than Baba, Whalley is their veteran coming of the bench. He can do pretty much everything, so he fits perfect as their 12th man. Andrews can be the tall guy required for desperate situations. I would also keep an eye on Adedoyin. As a lefty striker, he can be a matchup nightmare sometimes for this team.

Conclusion.

To be honest, I'm impressed. They have all the tools to be a good team right there. A lot of factors come into play, including their coach not choosing to play this way. But... If they stick together and give this system a chance, a lot of people would be surprised by how far this team can go.
