An all-British & commonwealth team - inspired by the ideals of Clough's run with Nottingham.
All of these players are able to reach 80+ ratings after 2.5 seasons. If you are able to rotate the squad each week with certain key players featuring, their fitness will remain relatively constant.
Although not necessary, Cohan remains in this squad until retirement. Him and Lansbury feature more than 20+ games each season from a starting or substitution. Lansbury can reach 80+, whilst Cohan will reach 74+.
Assombalonga features prominently in the first season either as a top-scorer or playmaker. He is best served with a tall pacey counterpart like Iwobi or Rashford.
The team features a Scottish left side that brings a pacey and strong counter-attack. Over the long term, seeing how Fraser and Robertson/Tierney develop is well-worth the investment. Ironically, Robertson is also a homage player to John Robertson (1970–1983).
Oxford is a great player to develop over 2 seasons and then sell for a considerably high amount. If you're looking to build off from a simpler long-term approach, Awaziem and Mancienne are good counterparts. Caulker holds well against bigger teams because of his size. Coetzee is a great back-up player.
The right side provides a good balance between strength and pace. Iorfa has the ability to grow well into a counter-attacking player that feeds the ball to Bailey or Zaha. However, Zaha is better at cutting in than delivering crosses.
Played in a 4-4-2 flat, with the following tactics in mind: (LB,RB) always overlap; (CB) stay positioned; (CDM) stay back, highly interceptive; (CM) joins attack almost as a false 9; (LW, RW) overlap or cut-inside; (RF) False 9 or comes in for crosses; (LF) Target Man.
