1. ATTACK
This team is led from the back as most of the big figures and presences are based there. Koulibaly acts as a sweeper although the physicality and pace of the other centre halves actually see the ball out onto the wings, so, you could say the three centre backs act as a sweeping mechanism. When the wing backs collect the ball, the three in defence and their pace leaves them two options. The former option would be to counter through the middle of the park with the engine of Tolisso and the creativity of Fernandes. This will give Sancho and Martial- two technically gifted wingers who are additionally gifted with prolific goal scoring ability- a window to push inwards and try long shots or drive into the box. The latter option would be to make an overlap and cross allowing Martial and Sancho to push inwards waiting for the cross; or to pass to the wingers for them to cross the ball. Overall, this method of counter attacking induces an atmosphere of uncertainty into the opposition defence with Rashford, with hid pace and agility being able to swiftly capitalise on this and score either on a "get in behind" or a "target man" setting.
2. DEFENCE
In defence, the surplus numbers at the back-line allow Rashford and his fellow forwards to press the back-line of the opposition, pressuring them into making mistakes and depositing the ball into the wings. This would be where the wing backs would be waiting catching the attackers off guard forcing errors by inducing fear of ambush into them. The midfield would be sitting in front of the back three, waiting for the turn of possession when they could exchange passes with the centre backs before a pas would be released to the wings. They would also sometimes cover the respective wings if need be but that would be a final resort. The centre backs would be sitting back ready for the quick exchange of passes at the turn of possession.
