Just a shitty nation to host a World Cup in general. I don’t know why they were chosen. They have seriously breached human rights in preparing for this and their anti+LGBTQ laws don’t create any inclusivity in football whatsoever which is what is trying to be achieved. It’s funny that the biggest defenders of this in the comment section are from Egypt and Pakistan. Do you really expect us to take to your conservative Muslim and homophobic laws? No. Normally for a World Cup you get a good taste of the hosts culture and lifestyle but I can’t see that happening here and they will either get smacked in the group stages or pay to win, just like EA games, which makes it bad entertainment-wise. It’s just disappointing. Peoples have been waiting for 4 years for this. The lack of anticipation and buzz for it just says it all. It also may be affected by the time of year and the fact that England have made some very strange call-ups and the fact that they are in bad form, but it is still easy to tell that it’s just not going to be the same this year knowing 3 million workers lost their lives and many more went through a tough time and had some basic human rights seriously breached to make this happen. The World Cup is a disgrace this year and it will be a shadow of previous years.
