So overall I'd say a mix between Thiago and Kante. Perfect as a playmaking part of a double pivot. He's not quite as perfect for the single pivot or the 8 role in a 433, but he is still an almost complete midfielder.

I get that this is a different environment with different players, but Caicedo playing higher up makes sense to me. with a double pivot behind him and 3 defenders behind the duo, we won't need him to be as athletic as Kante. Kante was literally part of a double pivot and was playing two roles at once, presser in the final 3rd and DM in a double pivot, Caicedo will have to play one role at a time because when he gets forward either Cucurella or Reece will fill in for him in the midfield.

I think there has to be a balance. There's no point keeping Poch if you're going to sign players he doesn't want. On the other hand, you can't just sign players that are only coming because of Poch or because they fill a specific role in the system. We should be signing players that Poch wants and are good players irrespective of the manager.
