That would have allowed them to sign and register Messi, Depay, Aguero, etc. But Barca and Madrid don't want that money because it will lock them into a deal where they have to give a small percentage of revenue to the company. And they don't want any extra deals/committments to La Liga because they are still thinking about the Super League. Although the money would help them right now, Barca/Madrid see it as a tactic to tie them down to La Liga for the long term. They don't want the loan money, Messi's wage is still too high after 50% cut, Messi probably doesn't want to reduce his wage even further, players like Umtiti on 220k a week have rejected a pay cut...put all that together and you get this situation. Now Barcelona can write off Messi's wage entirely which allows them to register Depay, Aguero etc and keep Super League plans alive.
