Are you kidding me? Jack was born and raised in Birmingham and was called up to the England U15's (only missed out because he fell ill). After joining the Irish youth side, he turned down the first call from England to switch because he wanted to talk to his family and Martin O'Neill before making a decision. He continued to turn down call-ups to the Irish senior side because he said he wanted to play for England - at no point did he insinuate that he would commit to the Irish senior side, and multiple times he made it clear that his desire was to represent England. "When I was 15, I went to England trials and I collapsed," he said. "I was just nervous. I don’t usually get nervous but I collapsed. I told them I was fine. I was desperate to stay on but they said, ‘No, you’ve got to go home.’ Then Ireland called me up. I played with Ireland, loved it, loved all the lads, the coaching staff, and you get treated well. England didn’t call me so I carried on playing for Ireland. But a year later England called me. Kenny Swain rang. I said: ‘I’m enjoying playing for Ireland.’ So I stayed there. But the older I got, I put things into perspective. My grandparents are Irish. But I’m English, I was born here, my parents were born here.” This is a decision process he had to make as a 15-18 year old, but sure, slag him off for the rest of his life because he made the choice that was right for him personally... I'll also throw out an question that I have never had a proper response to: Do you also hate every Welsh player who started in another nation's youth system? How many of today's Welsh side played England's youth system (I believe Robson-Kanu is one btw...)?

I think he’ll struggle in a team where the play isn’t based around him but the hype for Grealish is justified. Works hard, brings the ball forward exceptionally well and has good end product too. Any player who wears his socks that low has no fear.

Grealish > Cantwell

Gets on the ball, dictates the game, draws fouls, wins free kicks. If you don’t understand his impact on the game then you don’t know the sport

It's really easy to say he decided to go down from your comfy chair at home. You have no idea what he felt like though. When a 85-90 kg defender slams into you even if not with full force you'll have a hard time stay standing with a weaker frame.

He does go down easily - but he's also targeted by every defence he faces. He's nowhere near as strong as Rudiger/Kante/Christensen (and most other defenders) so if he gets shoved in the back when he receives the ball, he has very little chance of shielding the ball and throwing off the defender. Is it frustrating for defenders? Probably, but they also spend all game hacking at his ankles and shoving him off the ball when he gets it. Jack is excellent when he plays close to the defender, so he naturally is involved in a lot of contact. The way I've always seen it is this: He doesn't dive when there's zero contact, but he also makes no extra effort to stay up if there is.

After being at a historic club in Villa its hard to see him taking a step down.

Has to start for England at the Euros, amazing player. He's better than Maddison.
avatar
how have they only upgraded him by +1? refusing to admit mistakes by upgrading him by +4 or 5 like he deserves
avatar
I watched this guy since mazembe days and i pretty much know better
avatar
Over the season, he should be upgraded to the same potential as Maddison. In fact, he's probably the better player.
avatar
80/87. One of the best players in the prem this season
avatar
Nothing special? U can not have seen him play this season
avatar
How has this man not been upgraded? England’s best midfielder. I dare you to @ me.
avatar
78/84
avatar
He has Gerardesque longshots..that 72 shot power is a joke
avatar
Imagine being named Azhui
avatar
Definitely not
avatar
Close to Aston Villa, what a signing it would be for them
avatar
He still has 8 more potential than Luca Waldschmidt and Marco Richter...this game is such a joke
avatar
You never watched him in your life, you are just an Argentinian hater

Fulham panic bought at the end of the window. Not sure why they are the only comparison though, Wolves bought more players than them and did well.

All these people speaking about 25m firstly its 20m 'POTENTIALLY' rising to 25m, you dont know what terms are in that price for it to rise? Secondly most people saying he's shit 95% haven't seen him play week in week out for 6 months. He was a rock for the Villa, breaking up play, crucial tackles and interceptions, was a leader at the back. Dribbled and passed the ball out of defence in tight situations that a lot of players would struggle with. People are judging from his Bournemouth days. Everybody matures at a different age, he's heading into his peak so imo 20m is a good price for someone that brings more than just being a CB, he's more to the fans and club.
avatar
of course they are, he's not a typical brazilian striker. you clearly don't know what you're talking about but aston villa actually play to his strengths very well
avatar
First of all I’m not a Villa fan but a general English football fan. Secondly, why you comment every fucking post? Chill bro please. However maybe you’re right when you say that transfer window isn’t a sprint but a marathon, btw RIGHT NOW your squad isn’t ready to survive in Premier League
avatar
Taking a big step by joining Aston Villa who are now in the Premier League. I hope he does good but it is also very possible that he is not ready.
