He's been used as a CB sometimes, that should say a lot about him. Also if you look at our midfield, you'll see he's the only one who's particularly good at recovering the ball. But then again you look at our midfield with Martinelli who's improved a lot defensively, but is still physically weak and Ganso (man had 3 ACL injuries, should tell you enough about his defending) so you get André doing pretty much all the dirty work while also being essential in build up.
