Ashley is out! Bruce will be sacked! I still can't process this. We are back. Looks like our new manager will be Steven Gerrard from Rangers. That's pretty good. Better than Bruce. Maybe we'll play some attacking football.

Newcastle can spend 190m this January and still follow FFP. This club is sickly and malnourished. We need quality, and fast.

Gerrard's System:
Gerrard's Rangers are listed as a 4-3-2-1 in FIFA. This is not accurate to the way Rangers plays IRL. The attack is actually quite wide, with the team playing more of a 4-3-3 with the center of the midfielders either being a CAM or a CDM depending on the opposition. Gerrard will most likely use a CDM in every match in the prem as Newcastle will not dominate their league like Rangers did.

Signings:
Newcastle's biggest needs at the moment are a backup striker, a playmaking midfielder, a holding midfielder, a center back, and an attacking right back. I don't see Newcastle signing another striker this window, as there are already 3 strikers at the club (Wilson, Gayle, Joelinton), and the latter two will have few suitors in January. As for a midfielder signing, I think that James Ward-Prowse would be perfect. He is a fantastic passer, but is known for his set pieces, which may be the best in the world. His free kicks are extraordinary, and would definitely help Newcastle score goals. Bouba Kamara looks likely as a CDM. Newcastle were linked to him this summer, with Marseille reportedly asking for 15m for his services. With 6 months left on his contract, an offer around 8-10m should secure his signing. Tarkowski is in the same situation with Burnley, and is a Premier League proven CB with international experience. Tarkowski might cost a little more, I think Burnley would ask for 10-15m for his services, because selling Tarkowski would virtually confirm Burnley's relegation to the Championship. Mazraoui also has 6 months left on his contract with Ajax, and he is way too good for the Eredivisie. Mazraoui should also be available for about 10m.

The signings of Ward-Prowse (~15m), Kamara (~10m), Tarkowski (~15m), and Mazraoui (~10m), would cost the club ~50m this January. This should be enough to secure Newcastle stays up in the Premier League, which will allow the squad to be upgraded further this summer.

This summer, Newcastle could possibly sign a #9 to replace Wilson, due to Wilson's spotty injury record. Someone like Sociedad's Alexander Isak would be a fantastic signing, and would be somewhat realistic, considering he has been linked to Arsenal and Tottenham. Newcastle should also look for a new LB if Jamal Lewis isn't able to improve his form. There are a surprising number of talented LBs that might be available to sign this summer. If Brighton gets relegated, Marc Cucurella would be a fantastic signing. Other options could include Alex Telles from Manchester United, Maxwel Cornet from Burnley, Alex Sandro from Juventus (Should they fail to qualify for Europe), Jose Gaya from Valencia, Alex Grimaldo from Benfica, and Pervis Estupinan from Villareal.
