A team with huge talent, young and old and an established reputation as a Premier League side, Swansea have swiftly become a wonderful footballing side. I do however feel that in many ways the side has stagnated, settling only now for mid table and a hope to keep key players. The side I want necessitates that attention is paid to the young talents of Swansea yet the quality within the squad stay.
My transfer policy is based off a want for young talent but this inevitably will follow some sales
Outs -
- Assorted youth players - Whilst some of these players may have respectable mid 70s potential, this side will soon outgrow them and as I am sure they don't wish for a bench place, I will let them go.
- Gerhard Tremmel - A veteran keeper who will see little action, Tremmel will be sold to free up space for a younger goalkeeper.
- Kristoffer Nordfeldt - Another back up without a future, Nordfeldt will, despite decent stats, make way.
- Jack Cork - As an established Premier League midfielder, Cork is perhaps a player you would expect me to keep. I do, however, want a more physical athletic central midfielder in the two in the middle and Cork lacks the athleticism.
- Nathan Dyer - Having been at the club for 8 years, Dyer has seen it all at Swansea. He has however fallen out of favour and despite his pace, I see younger replacements and a rebirth in pastures new for Dyer.
- Wayne Routledge - Another with huge experience in Swansea, Routledge will leave as a player in decline and lacking in the qualities needed in the new ideology I want to push. It is saddening to see him depart but again like Dyer, a more secure future is best for both parties.
The sales all follow a policy of out with the old, in with the new. Whilst some of these players are long term servants, they are not irreplaceable and certainly will see better quality younger replacements.
Ins -
- Thomas Didillon - As Fabianski won't be getting any younger, a new keeper will be necessary. As a young upstart at Metz Didillon looks an excellent choice for the future and as a present back up.
- Andrea Conti - Whilst Kyle Naughton is an excellent right back for a team of our current status, Conti will be an excellent right back for my aspirations. Signed from Atalanta, Conti provides a good engine and well rounded physical and technical stats, allowing for a future right back with world class potential and enough ability to hold a first team place in present.
- Jairo Riedewald - One key philosophy is that of playing the ball out from the back and the Ajax center half is an excellent proponent of this philosophy. With solid all round stats and excellent ball playing abilities, the Dutchman could be an excellent signing for the future.
- Jamaal Lascelles - To fill out depth in the center back role, Lascelles joins from recently relegated Newcastle. With good height and physical ability, Lascelles will hopefully be an excellent back up.
- Lars Vilsvik - In the possibilities of injuries to the wing backs, Vilsvik signs as a back up to fill either position. With 5-star weak foot and excellent all round stats, the Stromsgodset full back will be useful when called upon.
- Nathaniel Chalobah - Despite the excellence of Leroy Fer, he is certainly no top class player. Step forward Chelsea's Nathaniel Chalobah. As an excellent physical player, Chalobah is unlikely to ever see playing time at Chelsea but may see some in Wales.
- Aminu Umar - Our philosophy relies on pace down the wings and the Nigerian from Osmanlispor certainly excels in this. Umar will hopefully provide pacey breakaways and an exciting new prospect.
- Lautaro Martinez - The forwards at Swansea are all very similar, tall and powerful. In Martinez of Racing, We see a player instead who is small and pacey. His development will be eagerly pushed and first team experience will be encouraged as an alternative to height and power in the guile of the more diminutive Martinez.
The signings are a look towards the future with only one player who is over 23 years old.
