That's why arteta wanted him, along with his distribution skills, he prevents entire passages of play in every game by claiming crosses and corners. That's like 10+ minutes less every game arsenal don't have to spend defending their box and more counter attacks that can be started from Raya which have been very effective. Raya is kind of a chest code with good defenders ahead of him. A really clever appointment. His actual shot stopping is good, but my constant criticism of him has always been he can't reach the corners of his net. That'll never change, but so long as he has a good defense to help stop some of those direct shots, he will do really well.

It's kinda weird because he won the golden glove but I actually couldn't tell you how good his shot stopping abilities are because he has hardly faced any shots this season, and most that he has faced have been routine saves. Obviously he has one of the world's best defenses in front of him but I also think the way he plays helps with the defensive structure. Should probably have better handling and kicking, has some of the best stats in terms of stopping crosses and catching ability.

I want our club to act like a elite club now.
